No One’s Really Talking Anymore

We just finished ordering… and we’re back to facing our gadgets while waiting.

Sabroso Merienda

Zamboangeños really know how to eat.
Even for merienda (afternoon snack), we really go all the way.

Just the other day, I had these heavenly snacks.

Knicker Bocker — cold dessert of mixed fruits, gelatin, home-made strawberry ice cream and the secret “Melba sauce”.

Pho Adventures

Pho (/fʌ/; Vietnamese: phở pronounced [fəː˧˩˧]) is a Vietnamese dish consisting of broth, noodles made from rice, a few herbs, and meat.


There was not a day in Ho Chi Minh that we did not eat pho!
Everywhere we went, pho was being served.
In restaurants, in marketplaces, and even on the streets.


Just to challenge ourselves, we embarked on a quest to find the best pho in Saigon. We read somewhere that it’s a must to try Pho 24. So we used good ‘ol google maps and began our journey. After almost what seems to be an hour of walking and still no Pho 24 in sight, it’s time to admit defeat. We settled for this quaint little noodle shop on Pasteur street instead.




We were surprised. Of all the places we’ve eaten pho, this was actually the most homey, most flavorful, and has the most authentic-feeling of all. We found out later that day that there was a Pho 24 just on the street next to where we were staying. The noodles there was good but not as good as the ones served in Pho Hoa Pasteur.



I miss pho. I miss eating in Saigon.
