Someone has to work…

Warning: This post contains spoiler from The Good Wife Season 3 Episode 4

One scene from The Good Wife struck me.
Although, a lot of The Good Wife scenes strike me (most scenes just break me into tears)…
This one, in particular, is the most hard-hitting and timely.

I don’t mean to be pessimistic… I just mean to be realistic.
I think that we could learn a thing or two in this conversation.
It will help a lot of us get through (or get down from?) this dream-big-you-can-do-anything media hype
… and help us face reality.

Celeste:   This is your dream! What happened to pursuing your dream?
Will:         What happened work? Not everybody can pursue their dreams.
                   Someone has to work.
Celeste:    That is so sad.
Will:          No, not really.

Now, isn’t this just a light bulb moment from The Good Wife?
Nice one.

Real Steel is the Real Deal!

After a veeeeeery stressful day at work (and when I say stressful, it’s STRESSFUL!), I would not want to do anything else except go home and curl up on my bed and cover my face in the familiar sheets. However, before overtime (more like overdrive) began, Grace invited me to watch Real Steel after work. I would have said no because my day had not yet begun and already I was dead tired… but I had seen its trailer a lot before and I really wanted to watch it soooo bad.

Good thing I did because… I think:

It’s one of the best movies I have seen since Inception!

Okay. It’s not as intellectual and complicated as Inception… but it’s what I think have always been missing with main stream movies these days. You know the feeling you get when you watch teasers or trailers before a movie starts? You always want to be able to see the trailers because it just gives you a sense of amazement and also gives you a rush of feelings that make you high. And it always makes you think: “Man, there are so many good movies to watch out for. I’m gonna be broke before a season’s over!”. But how often does these feelings of watching a trailer match the feeling you get when you actually see the movie? Not so often, right?

However, the feeling I got when I saw Real Steel matched AND even exceeded the excitement I felt when I saw its trailer. It’s got the right mix of family drama, awkward romance, PG violence, and cool dance moves (my favorite)!

Hugh Jackman plays cocky and irresponsible but deep inside has a good heart…
Dakota Goyo plays stubborn but charming and sooooo cute…
Near future… Cool touch screens/displays…
Lovable robots… and surprisingly, cool Hip Hop soundtrack (Eminem!)…
That’s what we get from Spielberg and Zemeckis!

LSS: How to Love by Lil Wayne

Okay. I may not still be totally over by the great Super Bass… but guess what?
I have a new last song syndrome (LSS)!

I first heard this song via my sisters and their weird obsession with youtube artists that do covers of songs. So, yeah. I did not hear the original version first.

The one that stick my mind was the cover Megan Nicole did (where she changed some lyrics to Spanish). My sister harassed the replay button on this one.

I have to be honest, by then, I already liked the song. I was impressed by how meaningful it was — add to that how sweet Megan Nicole’s rendition was.

However, my LSS started (and still goes on for what seems like forever) when I heard the original version.

I don’t know.
There is something about Lil Wayne’s voice (and character?) that contradicts the song entirely…
but still and makes every bit of sense and gives it the right sentiment.
Or simply put, it brings more “kilig” factor to the song.
Again, I don’t know.

What the hell…
Just cut the music up! Little louder… ;P

How to Love by Lil Wayne

Cut the music up a little louder
You had a lot of crooks try to steal your heart
Never really had luck, couldn't ever figure out
 How to love
 How to love
You had a lot of moments that didn't last forever
Now you're in this corner tryna put it together
 How to love
 How to love
For a second you were here
 Now you over there
It's hard not to stare, the way you moving your body
Like you never had a love
 Never had a love
When you was just a young and your looks were so precious
 But now your grown up
So fly it's like a blessing but you can't have a man look at you for five seconds
 Without you being insecure
You never credit yourself, so when you got older
It's seems like you came back ten times over
Now you're sitting here in this damn corner
Looking through all your thoughts and looking over your shoulder
See you had a lot of crooks try to steal your heart
Never really had luck, couldn't ever figure out
 How to love
 How to love
See you had a lot of moments that didn't last forever
Now you're in this corner tryna put it together
 How to love
 How to love
For a second you were here
 Why you over there?
It's hard not to stare the way you moving your body
Like you never had a love
 Had a love
You had a lot of dreams that transformed to visions
The fact that you saw the world affected all your decisions
 But it wasn't your fault
 Wasn't in your intentions
To be the one here talking to me
 Be the one listenin'
But I admire your popping bottles and dippin'
Just as much as you admire bartending and stripping
 Baby, so don't be mad
 Nobody else tripping
You see a lot of crooks and the crooks still crook
See You had a lot of crooks try to steal your heart
Never really had luck, couldn't ever figure out
 How to love
 How to love
See you had a lot of moments that didn't last forever
Now you in this corner tryna put it together
 How to love
 How to love
Oh,
See I just want you to know
 That you deserve the best
 You're beautiful
 You're beautiful
 Yeah
And I want you to know, you're far from the usual
 Far from the usual
You see you had a lot of crooks try to steal your heart
Never really had luck, couldn't ever figure out
 How to love
 How to love
See you had a lot of moments that didn't last forever
Now you in this corner tryna put it together
 How to love
 How to love
See you had a lot of crooks try to steal your heart
Never really had luck, couldn't ever figure out
 How to love
 How to love
See you had a lot of moments that didn't last forever
Now you in this corner tryna put it together
 How to love
 How to love, mmmm.

So just like Megan Nicole, I want to know…

…who taught you How to Love?

R.I.P. Big Joe

My relationship with my Big Joe was brief.
We weren’t really acquainted with each other that well yet…
and already, with my clumsy nature, I failed it big time!

I remember when I got my Big Joe.
Tatia sent me a message that KC had given her something to give me.
At first I was puzzled, “What could it be?”.
And as I was opening a rather large gift-wrapped box and saw the first light the glass reflected,
I realized what it was…

My very own Big Joe!

I was so excited and at the same time very grateful to KC that she remembered how much I envied Jules to have a Big Joe!

But just like Jules, I broke mine, too!
I got to use it for an occasion or two.
But I never got to use it for its intended purpose:
In times of crisis, I was to drink red wine filled to the brim to calm my nerves.

I m happy that no crisis has ever arouse to permit me to do that.
But still… it’s a sad loss.

I miss Big Joe. I’m sorry KC.
Anyway, what’s done is done.
I just have to get a Big Carl and take care of it from then on.

Nothing to do but smile and give one last Big Joe toast:
Here’s to Big Joe! And to….

To life! To life! L’chai-im!
